Laura James - Web Developer
Hi, I'm Laura James, a part time freelance web developer with extensive programming experience and over 14 years business experience. I'm based in Bath, Somerset, United Kingdom.
My key skills are PHP, MySQL, ASP, MS SQL, HTML, Javascript, CSS & some Flash. I have a background in Search Engine Optimisation, writing bespoke CMS (content management systems) and developing Wordpress themes. I also build e-commerce sites - mostly in Zen Cart - and can integrate sites with most payment gateways (e.g. SagePay)
I always like to hear from people - whether its for new opportunities or just to chat - so do get in contact
Dune Shoes
One of PMedia’s biggest clients, I was involved as the main Project Manager/Client Liaison from May 2005 to Mar 2007. The site has been an out and out success for Dune with a turnover far beyond their initial expectations. It allows customers to browse Dune products easily online, combining innovative rotational photography with a custom built payment gateway for purchases. The site has a custom admin interface with ability for the website manager to perform almost all stock and warehousing tasks using the website.
Technologies used: ASP, XHTML, CSS, Flash

Elusive
This site represents a major step forward for this surfing brand.
The old Flash-based web site was bringing in few customers, so together with designer Adam Wyatt we built this lively vibrant site with online music, video, news and team pages. It also has a competition page and a contact us page
The client can easily make updates via the bespoke CMS
Technologies used: XHTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery
Marmite Pop Up Shop
A bold and "in your face" site was needed for Marmite's temporary shop on Regent Street for Xmas 2009. The branding & design was done by Sunhouse Creative. It needed to integrate a feed from Twitter using the Twitter API and a free Blogger blog was used to feed in the longer news articles, thus removing the need to build a complex CMS for, what is essentially a temporary site.
Technologies used: XHTML, CSS, PHP, jQuery, simplePie, Twitter API

The client required a web-based application for their trustees who could use it to track grant applications and associated documents, along with the subsequent discussion and voting procedure.
This has revolutionised the way that they work allowing disparate trustees to work seamlessly together without needing to meet.
The site was built from scratch using ASP - with many bespoke functions such as member voting, regular reminders and different access levels all coded to spec.
Technologies used: ASP, XHTML, CSS and Javascript

A design revamp for the online shop for this Truro-based surfshop. The site was originally built using ZenCart, the free open source e-commerce library, but the design required revamping and cleaning up along with subtle tweaks to the functionality
